Cicero kicks off extensive pan-European campaign for CEFIC

Cicero adds to its well-known chemical industry portfolio with an international contract for European Chemicals Industry Council.

CICERO has embarked upon one of its most significant new accounts – a multi-service, pan-European marketing campaign spanning 25 member states of the EU for client CEFIC.

Brussels-based CEFIC is the European trade body for the chemicals industry, and has approached Cicero to help with the marketing of its new service delivery unit called ReachCentrum, which is a service aimed at helping all manufacturers and commercial users to ensure they conform to the EU regulation called Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH).

REACH is an 11-15 year programme which will test and certify all chemical substances brought to market, some 30,000 substances in all, in products from plastics to paper, shampoo to clothing, mobile phones to building materials.

All companies across Europe who need to comply with this regulation will benefit from ReachCentrum, as it will provide services to help them make sure they comply, for example by helping them form consortia with other companies who are testing the same products, to ensure consistency and cost control.

Danny Turnbull, Cicero managing director, says, “We have worked with the UK Chemical Industries Association before and are delighted to be working with a similar organisation at European level.

“This represents an important opportunity to be involved at the earliest stages of the strategic planning process to ensure that the market is able to meet this step change in the legislative environment.

“Our initial work encompasses the naming and creation of a complete new brand for CEFIC which will be driven through a wide variety of geographical and vertical markets via an intensive pan-European events programme and advertising schedule.”

Cicero boasts a long track record of success in the chemicals sector, working with such clients as Astra Zeneca, SAFC, BASF, Elementis, the Chemicals Industry Association, Julich, Excelsyn, Avecia, NPIL and Fujifilm.
